Quantity over Quality?

The question Liz presented today was to determine whether the articles for the horrific annotated biblio assignment and the assigned book use qualitative or quantitative research. My answer leans mainly toward the quantitative side. As the articles are all case studies of drug trials, they must be quantitative. Scientists rarely look at qualitative evidence, however, in the diet study of those individuals with diabetes, the study lasted 23 years and obviously a scientist isn’t going to follow around 4000+ individuals to measure and weigh what they are eating. So the scientists took quantitative research of qualitative interviews, the studies were given by nutritionists and were all standardized to help ensure that questions were fair.
